After completing a 30 day writing challenge for Final Fantasy XIV in September, I was very eager to get back to working on my Honkai: Star Rail fan fiction.

On the night of October 12, I finally finished and published chapter five of Phantom Eye Syndrome. The chapter follows Aventurine’s near death experience and ends in the same way as the canon, with him choosing to live when confronted with death.

I got a call later that night that my sibling died. Obviously, that’s hard enough on its own, but my family has been wickedly nasty to me through all of this and I have no friends. I’ve tried to write more of the next chapter of Phantom Eye Syndrome, but every bit of prose is coming out extremely stale and flat if I can even write at all.

Between that, receiving no treatment for my disabilities, and crushing housing insecurity, I don’t think it’s realistic that I’ll be alive after I publish the final chapter of that fan fiction.

Website Updates

It turns out that it’s very difficult to find privacy friendly integrated third party comment widgets that function the way that I want them to on a static website. I have deployed Chirpy to the website and might try ConvoComet if it doesn’t go well.

If needed, I will just mirror the website’s repository to GitHub. Very reluctantly.

Semi-related: I made a Bluesky account, since there seem to be a lot of Star Rail fans on there. I really want to make friends; that’s why I got into writing fan fiction again.
