Listen to mine verse as I recite a poem about the rising walls of Sharlayan whilst I cleanse thy body of corruption. The poem hath nothing to do with thine injuries, but is good to hear nonetheless.

Personality

Charismatic · Knowledgable · Strange · Legendary

The esteemed scholar Zumi Asclepius can come off as cold, even though he means well. He is hard-working, and puts a great deal of effort into both his scientific studies and his musical skills. Zumi is extremely self-sufficient, wanting to be someone that other people rely on rather than having to rely on others.

While the songs Zumi writes and performs as a minstrel are mostly educational, he enjoys entertaining his friends, acquaintances, and colleagues with theater and music as well.

Origins

Long ago, Zumi, born as Ásbjörg, was raised by a secluded tribe of veena on the remote Mount Bur-Omisace in Dalmasca. Like his peers, he was raised with the teachings of the Light of Kiltia, instructed to protect the holy mountain from outsiders, and to not leave the holy mountain.

Eventually, young Zumi’s curiosity and thirst for knowledge lead him explore beyond the mountain. He explored the Hume cities of Dalmasca, witnessing many different cultures. Zumi spreads all that he learns, retelling stories and poems he hears through song.

While he was still quite young, Zumi journeyed across the ocean, finding himself in Sharlayan, a wellspring of the star’s knowledge. Zumi studies tirelessly in Sharlayan, developing a keen interest in the very different fauna and wildlife. This desire leads him to the Sharlayan colony of Idyllshire in Dravania, a land with suculent, wild dangers much different from his far away mountain home. Despite his research also reaching to the distant shores of Aldenard, he stays in Idyllshire.

Over 100 summers pass, and Zumi makes a name for himself, never slowing down in his intense biological research. He is well known in Dravania and Sharlayan both; a scholar who presents his findings through a lute rather than a quill.
